Until about a year ago, I didn’t fully understand the meaning of probate.
I was not comprehensionable in the legal process.
In Florida, probate is when the dwelling is considered part of a deceased person’s estate. The dwelling is transferred to the beneficiaries through the court system. The steps are rather involved, including verifying the will, identifying assets, satisfying debts & parselling out the remaining dwelling in accordance with the guidelines of the will. It is necessary to have the dwelling appraised for value. The process is guided by a court-appointed executor, who is responsible for filing paperwork with the probate court. When my Grandmother passed away, I learned the ins & outs of probate. My two siblings, two siblings & I were the beneficiaries of her estate. Although I live in Jacksonville, my siblings are spread across the country. It was rather hard for them to get time off from work to travel. My buddy and I needed to wrap up the loose ends as suddenly as possible. There were some troubles with the house. My buddy and I knew that an inspection would turn up a lengthy list of problems. We’d be expected to replace the roof, replace the heat pump, possibly paint & install new appliances. It was severely lacking in curb appeal. Over the last few years, my Grandmother was not feeling well enough to keep up with repair or aesthetics. My siblings & I were not willing to tackle all of the repairs. My buddy and I decided to reach out to a cash homebuyer. A little research located a local, family-owned corporation. They are well-established in Jacksonville & have built an impressive resume. I filled out the contact form online. The cash offer came in just a few hours later. My buddy and I discussed our multiple chances & chose to accept the offer. This allowed us to get to the closing in under two weeks.
